Child Play Development

Child play development is one of the best ways for your child to learn and develop. When children try new things through play they are constantly learning.

You can encourage your child’s play very easily. Below is a list of activities and play things that can be created for very little money and will help stimulate and encourage learning.



Rattles

You can make your own from lentils and a plastic bottle.

Play Dough

1 cup of water, 1 cup of plain flour, 2tbsp cream of tartar, 1/2 cup of salt, 1 tbsp cooking oil.

Junk Modeling

Collect all sorts of cardboard boxes, cartons, yoghourt pots, milk bottle tops, glue, paint, card. Anything they can stick together.

Pretend Cooking

Use a bowl and spoons for measuring out small quantities of real food like flour, lentils, rice, sugar.

Television

Gives your child a lot of entertainment and you a bit of peace. Watch with your child when you can so you can talk about what you see.

Water

Is fun for all ages in the bath, sink, bowl, paddling pool. Use plastic bottles for poring and squirting, sponges, colander, straws, funnels and anything unbreakable.

Dressing Up

Collect old clothing from family members for dressing up. Halloween costumes and party dresses always go down well.

Reading

Even small babies like looking at picture books. Read as much as you can to your child, they will learn to talk and read more quickly.

Colouring In
